COURSE DESCRIPTION

EMS 120 — Basic First Aid in the Workplace  (2 cr)

This is a basic first aid course encompassing the following: bleeding control and bandaging; practical methods of artificial respiration including mouth-to-mouth and mouth-to-nose resuscitation; cardiopulmonary resuscitation; poisons, shock, unconsciousness and stroke; burns and scalds, sunstroke, heat exhaustion, frostbite and freezing; strains, sprains and hernias; fractures and dislocations; proper transportation of injured; bites and stings; and subjects covering specific health hazards likely to be encountered by coworkers of first aid students enrolled in the course.
